Mini Crossword
A quick crossword on a small grid, with a fresh set of clues each day.
How to play Mini Crossword
Fill the small grid with words that fit the clues. Every word crosses at least one other.
How it works
- Tap a square, then type. The highlighted row or column is the word you are working on, and its clue is shown above the grid.
- Tap the same square again, or press Space, to switch between across and down.
- Use the arrow keys to move around, Backspace to rub a letter out, and Previous clue and Next clue to jump between words. You can also tap any clue in the lists.
- Black squares are blocks. A number in a corner of a square marks where a word begins.
- Press Check my letters to mark the letters that are wrong with a cross. Right letters are not marked, and checks are counted in your result.
- The puzzle is solved when every square is right. A new one arrives every day, the same for everyone.
Tips
- Start with the clues you are sure about, then use the crossing letters to help with the rest.
- Short words are often the easiest way in. Three-letter answers cross several longer ones.
- Many answers are plurals or past tenses. If a clue sounds plural, the answer probably ends in S, and a clue in the past tense often ends in ED or is an irregular form such as LED or MET.
- Every clue is a definition or a short hint. Think about what the word means, not only what it looks like.
Your results
Your letters and results are saved only in your own browser. Nothing is sent to us. Copy my result gives you a line to share that says how many checks you used, without giving away any answers. Missed a day? Use the puzzle picker above the grid to play an earlier puzzle.
