CFMoto unveiled two new adventure motorcycles, the 550MT and the 550MT-X, at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan. The company's UK page is dated 4 November 2026. Both bikes use a new 526 cc parallel-twin engine that makes 40 kW (54 hp) at 8,500 rpm and 52 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. CFMoto has not announced prices or on-sale dates, and this article is written as of 6 November 2026.

What CFMoto has announced

According to CFMoto's UK page, the 550MT is the touring-focused model and the 550MT-X is the off-road-focused one. The company says the figures shown are development-phase data and may change for production. UK prices and arrival dates are listed as "to be confirmed". CFMoto has not published an India price or an India launch plan in the sources checked for this article.

CFMoto's Benelux news page says the company held two press conferences on the show's press day and that the Global Brand Ambassador Mario Román joined the unveiling of the 550MT-X on stage.

Shared features

  • Engine: new 526 cc liquid-cooled parallel twin, 40 kW (54 hp) at 8,500 rpm, 52 Nm at 6,000 rpm
  • Fully adjustable KYB suspension at both ends
  • Bi-directional quickshifter (works for upshifts and downshifts)
  • A six-speed gearbox, according to the Malaysian outlet paultan.org

550MT: the road-touring model

The 550MT has a 23-litre fuel tank, cruise control and an 800 mm seat that adjusts up to 820 mm. It runs a 19-inch front and a 17-inch rear wheel, according to paultan.org. CFMoto lists an inertial measurement unit (IMU), a sensor that tracks the bike's lean and movement, which supports Bosch cornering ABS and traction control. It also has a rear detection system (RDS) for traffic behind the rider.

The cockpit has an 8-inch MMI 2.0 display with Apple CarPlay, and a smart key that works through Bluetooth and NFC. An electronic-clutch version is listed as optional, which means the rider does not need to use the clutch lever for pulling away and stopping.

550MT-X: the off-road model

The 550MT-X has 230 mm of front and 220 mm of rear suspension travel and 250 mm of ground clearance. Its wheels are 21 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear, with CST tyres, J.Juan brakes and discs of 320 mm at the front and 240 mm at the rear. It has a 16-litre tank and an 850 mm seat that adjusts down to 830 mm.

CFMoto gives a dry weight of 172 kg, which it says is 3 kg less than the 450MT, with around 30 per cent more power. The X has a ride-by-wire throttle, three riding modes, switchable ABS and traction control, and a vertical 6.2-inch display with Motoplay connectivity.

Side-by-side specifications

  • Fuel tank: 550MT 23 litres; 550MT-X 16 litres
  • Seat height: 550MT 800 mm (adjustable to 820 mm); 550MT-X 850 mm (adjustable to 830 mm)
  • Dry weight: 550MT not yet listed; 550MT-X 172 kg
  • Display: 550MT 8-inch with CarPlay; 550MT-X 6.2-inch vertical
  • ABS and traction control: 550MT IMU-based; 550MT-X switchable

Where it sits in the range

Paultan.org describes the 550MT as positioned above the 450MT, whose Malaysian price it gives as RM28,888, and notes that CFMoto's current adventure line also includes the 700MT and 800MT Explore. The Benelux page adds that CFMoto showed a future platform idea built on the same 550 engine, with a lightweight aluminium frame and a configurable electronic clutch, but this was a vision and not a product announcement.

Terms explained

A parallel twin has two cylinders side by side. A quickshifter lets the rider change gear without using the clutch lever or closing the throttle. Dry weight is the weight without fuel, oil and other fluids, so the weight on the road is higher. Cornering ABS adjusts the anti-lock brake limit for the bike's lean angle, using the IMU readings.

Seat height and ground clearance are manufacturer figures measured under set conditions, and CFMoto notes that the development motorcycles in its photographs may carry accessories.

What is still unknown

  • Price in any market, including India
  • On-sale dates
  • Final production specifications
  • Dry weight of the 550MT
