How to use Days Between Dates Calculator
How to use this calculator:
- Choose the start date and the end date. The order does not matter.
- Tick "Count the end date too" if both the first and the last day should count. It adds one day.
- Read the number of days, the weeks and days, and the years, months and days.
How it counts. Only calendar dates are used, never clock times, so daylight saving cannot change the result. Leap days are included. A month-end date that does not exist in a shorter month moves to that month's last day.
Examples
1 January to 10 January 2026
9 days between the dates, or 10 days if the end date is counted.
1 January to 31 December 2026
364 days between, or 365 days counting both ends, which is the whole year.
28 February to 1 March
2 days in 2024, a leap year, and 1 day in 2023.
Frequently asked questions
Should I count the end date?
Count it when both the first and the last day are used, such as a hotel stay from the 1st to the 10th. Leave it off for the gap between two dates.
Does the order of the dates matter?
No. The calculator counts from the earlier date to the later one and tells you if it swapped them.
Are leap years included?
Yes. A period that includes 29 February counts that day.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. The calculation runs in your browser.
