How to use Image Crop and Rotate

How to use this tool:

  • Choose a picture (JPG, PNG or WebP).
  • Turn it left or right, or flip it left-right or top-bottom.
  • Pick a shape for the crop (or leave it free) and drag the box on the picture. You can also type the left, top, width and height in pixels. With the box focused, the arrow keys move it (hold Shift for bigger steps).
  • Download the result.

Details. The picture is flipped first, then turned, and the crop is measured on the turned picture. Turning or flipping starts the crop again over the whole picture. PNG stays lossless. JPG and WebP are saved again with the quality shown, so keep it high and keep your original.

Privacy. The picture is edited in your browser and never uploaded. Hidden camera and location data is not copied to the new file.

Examples

  • A square profile picture

Choose Square (1:1), drag the box over the face and download.

  • A photo that opens sideways

Rotate right or left until it is upright, then download. The pixels are saved in the right direction.

  • A mirrored selfie

Use Flip left-right to put it back the right way round.

Frequently asked questions

Does cropping lose quality?

A PNG stays lossless. A JPG or WebP is saved again, so keep the quality slider high and keep your original.

Why does the crop reset when I rotate?

After a turn the old box would point at a different part of the picture, so it starts again over the whole picture.

What does the shape option do?

It keeps the box at a fixed proportion, such as 16:9 or square, while you drag it or type a width or height.

Is my picture uploaded?

No. It is edited in your browser.
