An estimate, not a promise. Real returns go up and down, and the amount is assumed to be invested at the start of each month.

Estimated value at the end
₹11,61,695.38
Amount you invest
₹6,00,000.00
Estimated returns
₹5,61,695.38

How to use SIP Calculator

How to use this calculator:

  • Enter the amount you will invest each month.
  • Enter the yearly return you expect. Try a cautious number as well as a hopeful one.
  • Enter the number of years.
  • Read the estimated value, the amount you invest and the estimated returns.

Formula. Estimated value = P × ((1 + i)^n − 1) ÷ i × (1 + i), where P is the monthly amount, i is the yearly return ÷ 12 ÷ 100 and n is the number of months. Each instalment is assumed to go in at the start of the month. At a 0% return you simply get back what you put in.

Examples

  • ₹5,000 a month for 10 years at 12%

You invest ₹6,00,000 in total. The estimated value is about ₹11,61,695, so the estimated gain is about ₹5,61,695.

  • The same plan at 8%

The same ₹6,00,000 grows to about ₹9,20,828. A lower assumed return makes a big difference over ten years.

  • ₹5,000 a month for 20 years at 12%

You invest ₹12,00,000 and the estimate is about ₹49,95,740. Doubling the time more than quadruples the result.

Frequently asked questions

Is the result guaranteed?

No. It is an estimate based on a steady yearly return that you choose. Real mutual fund returns go up and down, and SEBI says there are no guaranteed returns.

Why does my fund's own calculator give a slightly different answer?

Calculators differ in small choices, such as whether each instalment is invested at the start or the end of the month. This one assumes the start of the month.

Are charges and tax included?

No. Fund charges and tax on gains are not in the formula, so your real result will usually be lower.

What return should I enter?

Nobody can know the future return. Try a low, a middle and a high number and plan around the low one.
