JSON Formatter and Validator

Format, minify and validate JSON with clear error messages.

  • Free
  • No sign-up
  • Runs in your browser

Valid JSON

Your JSON is processed in this page and is never sent anywhere.

How to use JSON Formatter and Validator

Follow these steps:

  • Paste your JSON on the left. It is checked as you type.
  • Choose Format to make it easy to read, or Minify to make it as small as possible.
  • Pick the indentation and, if you like, sort the keys A to Z.
  • Copy the result.

If the JSON is invalid, the message says what is wrong and, where your browser gives it, the line and column.

Examples

  • Tidy a response

Paste {"name":"OEWER","tools":[1,2]} and choose Format to see it spread over several indented lines.

  • Find a mistake

A trailing comma such as {"a": 1,} is not valid JSON. The error message points to where it goes wrong.
