Ducati has launched two off-road motorcycles in India: the Desmo450 EDX at Rs 18.55 lakh and the Desmo450 MX Factory at Rs 21.26 lakh, both ex-showroom. Autocar India reported the launch on 5 November 2026. Bookings are open at Ducati dealerships across the country. The EDX is built for enduro and cross-country riding, and the MX Factory is built for motocross racing. Both are off-road machines, and the reports describe them as competition-focused models.
Prices
- Ducati Desmo450 EDX: Rs 18.55 lakh (ex-showroom)
- Ducati Desmo450 MX Factory: Rs 21.26 lakh (ex-showroom)
- Ducati Desmo450 MX (2026 model, already on sale): Rs 17.24 lakh, unchanged, per Autocar India
Autocar India adds that the standard 2027 Desmo450 MX has not been launched in India yet. Those prices are for India only and do not include on-road costs.
The shared engine
Both bikes use a 449.6 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with Ducati's Desmodromic valve system, in which the valves are closed by a mechanism instead of springs. Motoroids lists 63.5 hp at 9,400 rpm and 53.5 Nm at 7,500 rpm, with about 70 per cent of peak torque available from 4,200 rpm. The electronics include traction control, launch control, engine-brake control, a two-way quickshifter and power and riding modes, according to Autocar India.
Desmo450 EDX: made for enduro
- 8.5-litre fuel tank (7.2 litres on the MX)
- 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels with Pirelli Scorpion XC Mid-Soft tyres
- Weight of 107.1 kg without fuel
- Handguards, an engine skid plate and a side stand as standard
- One colour: Ducati Red
- Showa suspension with 310 mm of fork travel and 301 mm at the rear, set up for enduro riding
Desmo450 MX Factory: made for the track
- Weight of 104 kg without fuel
- 7.2-litre fuel tank and Ducati Corse livery
- Full Akrapovic exhaust with its own engine mapping
- Holeshot device to help manage race starts
- 51-tooth rear sprocket (up from 49) for more rear-wheel torque out of corners
- RK MXU O-ring chain, sump guard and a disc rotor guard
- 21-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels with Pirelli Scorpion MX32 Mid-Soft tyres
- Brembo callipers with Galfer discs, 260 mm front and 240 mm rear
The reports say Showa suspension on the 2027 bikes has a Dark Kashima coating and a titanium oxide treatment for wear resistance.
What the difference between the two means
Motocross is racing on short closed tracks with jumps and berms. Enduro and cross-country riding cover longer routes over mixed ground, so the EDX has a bigger tank, a skid plate, handguards and a side stand, items a long ride needs and a short race does not. The MX Factory drops those items and adds race-focused parts such as the titanium exhaust and a holeshot device, which helps the rider get a controlled start from the gate.
Both weights are quoted without fuel, so a full tank adds to them. The 8.5-litre tank on the EDX holds about 1.3 litres more than the 7.2-litre tank on the MX models.
Booking and availability
The reports say bookings are open across Ducati dealerships in India, without naming a deposit amount or a delivery date. Motoroids says the MX Factory and EDX use the same engine and electronics package, so the main differences are in the chassis set-up, tyres, tank and the equipment listed above. As with all prices in this article, the figures are ex-showroom as given by the outlets, and local taxes, registration and insurance are extra.
Rivals and context
Ducati entered India's motocross segment earlier in 2026 with the Desmo450 MX. The company has not published figures for expected sales in India. The sources checked do not give delivery dates for the new models, so buyers would need to ask a dealer.
