Honda gave the 2027 CBR1000RR-R Fireblade series its world premiere at EICMA 2026 in Milan on 3 November 2026. The range has three versions: the Fireblade, the Fireblade SP and a new HRC Works Edition, a World Superbike homologation model. Honda says about 75 per cent of the motorcycle's components are newly designed. As of 4 November 2026 the company has not published prices, on-sale dates or power figures in the release used here.

The three versions

  • Fireblade: SHOWA Big Piston Fork at the front and SHOWA BFRC-lite shock at the rear.
  • Fireblade SP: electronically controlled Ohlins NPX Smart-EC3.0 front fork and TTX36 Smart-EC3.0 rear shock.
  • HRC Works Edition (new): mechanically adjustable Ohlins NPX and TTX36 suspension and Brembo Hypure Sports brakes. Honda says it is designed for solo riding and is road-legal under individual market regulations.

Italy's Il Sole 24 ORE describes the SP as using Ohlins Smart EC 3.0 electronic suspension and Brembo Hypure brakes, and the Works Edition as track-focused and single-seater.

Engine

The engine remains a 999 cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke, DOHC, four-valve inline-four. Honda lists two changes: a two-stage variable-length intake funnel, which it calls a first for a mass-produced Honda motorcycle, and a refined two-motor throttle-by-wire system. Il Sole 24 ORE adds redesigned pistons and a revised valve train, aimed at improving mid-range power. Honda's release does not give power or torque figures.

Frame, weight and materials

  • Aluminium twin-tube frame with 20 per cent less lateral rigidity than the previous model, while keeping torsional rigidity, and a frame weight reduction of 440 g (Fireblade and SP).
  • Swingarm with 12 per cent less lateral rigidity; the pivot shaft is reduced from 20 mm to 17 mm.
  • Titanium fuel tank, which needs no outer plastic cover.
  • Magnesium cylinder head cover, which Honda says saves more than 200 g on the Fireblade SP.
  • Recycled and bio-based materials in the windscreen, seat bases, air cleaner case, side covers and the wing emblem.

Honda has not stated an overall kerb weight.

What the HRC Works Edition adds

The Works Edition has carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic front winglets, front fender and rear duct fairing for aerodynamics. It also carries parts from the HRC Racing Kit: the PGM-FI and ignition unit, a bottom-neutral shift system, a head pipe collar, a swingarm pivot collar and other racing parts. Honda notes that installing the kit voids the manufacturer's warranty.

Terms explained

A homologation model is a road-legal version that a manufacturer builds so that its racing bike meets the rules of a championship. Honda describes the HRC Works Edition as a World Superbike homologation model, which is why it is road-legal only under individual market regulations. Throttle-by-wire means there is no cable between the twist grip and the engine; sensors and electric motors open the throttle instead. A variable-length intake changes the length of the air path into the engine at different speeds, which affects how strongly the engine pulls in different rev ranges. Honda says its two-stage design is new for a mass-produced Honda motorcycle.

What else Honda showed

The Fireblade was one of several reveals in Honda's EICMA line-up, which also included the CRF1150L Africa Twin series, a near-production V3R 900 E-Compressor with an electrically driven compressor, the Honda RN0 electric-assist mountain bike developed with ROTWILD, the ADV125 commuter, the CBR500R FOUR shown in Europe for the first time, the EV OUTLIER concept and the Onitsuka Tiger Honda Mid Sports Concept. Honda's overview page gives no prices or on-sale dates for any of them.

Dates and what is still unknown

EICMA 2026 runs from 3 to 8 November at Fiera Milano Rho. The first two days are for press and trade, and the public days are 5 to 8 November. Honda lists the model as part of its 2027 range. The company has not said when the bikes go on sale, what they will cost, or whether the Fireblade will be sold in India. Any such details will come from Honda's own announcements.
